No offence, but surely only a hacker would be remotely interested in that?

Because some systems have unintended effects on peoples systems. Such as the WoW system wrongly accusing people running it under Linux of using hack programs.

Ssince everything in Guild Wars actually happens on the servers there would be 3 areas where the hacking might happen:

1 - Accessing data that the client has data but the player shouldn't know at the current time (such as the location of anything outside his radar). If the client is only sent information that the player would already be able to access, then there is no extra information that a hack could acquire.

2 - Sending invalid commands to the serves (such as to use a skill thats not recharged) and expecting the server to carry them out. If the server checks for things like this and when they happen (from hacks and/or lag) then either ignores them or sends an error then I don't see what the problem would be.

3 - Hacking the servers, instead of the clients. However the hacker has less access to the servers, meaning they are much harder to hack.

So assuming the client doesn't know anything useful that the player doesn't already know and the servers will not follow invalid commands from the client, I don't see how hacking them will serve any useful purpose. Hacking at the servers seems just as doable on a computer that doesn't have guild wars installed. So I'm not so sure that Guild Wars even has an anti-hacking program as fixing the first issue would reduce bandwidth usage, the second issue can also be caused by lag or transmission problems and it wouldn't help in the 3rd case. ANET probably won't consider adding one until after a successful hack actually happens.
